If you have ever had the misfortune of filing a VAT Refund at Heathrow Airport's terminal 1, you may have encountered the rudest, most ignorant, unpleasant and objectionable woman I have ever met!

Having been married less than a week, my wife and I were in the UK on our honeymoon. Within 10 minutes, on an otherwise fabulous trip, this VAT woman had managed to reduce my wife to tears, and enrage me to the point that I had to call BAA airport security to act as mediators!

I'm a government official, I can do what I like!

I am a British citizen, working as an international civil servant with the United Nations, and my wife and I have been based out in Geneva, Switzerland for the past four years. We fly in and out of Britain fairly frequently, both on United Nations business and for family home visits.
